In 2007, Katz made an unprecedented $15 million gift to the Dickinson School of Law, one of the single largest acts of philanthropy in Penn State’s history, the law school said. With the 1966 graduate’s work through donations and behind the scenes, Gildin said Katz was a major reason the law school is still in Carlisle.“I think he was adamant, no matter what, for the law school to stay (in Carlisle) long-term,” he said. “I’ve never had a conversation with him where he did not include an expression of love for his law school.”
